“The Mummy” Stars Gather for Emotional 26-Year Reunion
“The Mummy” is not just another late-90s action flick. It is a cult classic. And now, 26 years later, the original stars got back together at the 2025 Fan Expo Denver. Fans showed up in full force, and the energy in the room proved the love for this film hasn’t faded one bit.
Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, Patricia Velásquez, and Oded Fehr all made appearances at the event. Each actor brought their own warmth and humor, sharing memories from the set that had the crowd laughing and tearing up at the same time. It was emotional, loud, and very real.

Covered Geekly / IG / The reunion panel was hosted by Collider and felt more like a family catching up than a formal Q&A.
Brendan Fraser, still riding high from his recent career comeback, threw in a sharp jab about the 2017 reboot with Tom Cruise. “I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie, and it ain’t easy!” he quipped, drawing big laughs from the audience.
Patricia Velásquez later took to Instagram, calling the day “so wonderful and so special.” She thanked fans for keeping the magic of “The Mummy” alive all these years. Her caption was heartfelt and raw, clearly touched by the love that still surrounds the film.
One thing fans couldn’t stop talking about was Oded Fehr. At 54, he still looks like he walked straight off the 1999 set. Jokes flooded social media, with fans saying he could play Zeus today and no one would question it. His calm presence and powerful voice were just as magnetic as ever.
Notably absent were Rachel Weisz and Arnold Vosloo, who played Evelyn and Imhotep. Though fans missed them, the cast made sure to mention their importance and how much they were a part of the magic. Still, their absence didn’t stop fans from celebrating what was there. The crowd was locked in from start to finish.

Covered Geekly / IG / “The Mummy” left a deep mark on adventure films. Directed by Stephen Sommers, it pulled in $418 million worldwide.
Its mix of action, horror, and humor hit the sweet spot. With a budget of just $80 million, it punched way above its weight and became a classic almost overnight.
That success spun off into sequels like “The Mummy Returns” and “Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” plus a prequel, “The Scorpion King.” But the 1999 original still stands tallest. And that is mostly thanks to Brendan Fraser. His charm, grit, and perfect comic timing made Rick O’Connell a character people still quote and cosplay today.
During the panel, Fraser said he would be down for another round. “I would work with all of those actors again,” he told the crowd. That line sparked instant buzz online. Fans started dreaming up a proper sequel with the original gang, hoping it could fix what the 2017 reboot couldn’t.
As for the future, Universal has plans. A new “The Mummy” movie is in the works under Blumhouse, with a release aimed for 2026. No details yet on cast or plot, but after this reunion, fans are hoping the studio will notice the loud and clear message: we want the originals back.
